Master Class Info
In this class, we will explore how flirting as a performance tool can unlock new sources of movement-generation by dropping into bold decision-making situated in a sense of lightness, curiosity, sensuality, and readiness to fail or change direction. True to the choreographic practice of Dogs Eat Wind, “Flirt” workshops will use personal history, memories, dreams, and archives to create new worlds built from personal artifacts and experiences. Through improvisations, writing prompts, and choreographic generation exercises we will use infatuation as a means to finding new movement, tone, and images.

Flirt: A Dance Theatre Workshop
Led by Hannah McCarthy & Hayden Hubner of Dogs Eat Wind
This 90-minute master class introduces dancers to Contemporary Chinese Fusion, a movement practice rooted in contemporary dance while drawing inspiration from Dunhuang dance imagery and Chinese aesthetic principles. While grounded primarily in contemporary technique, the class incorporates elements of Dunhuang-inspired gesture, Tai-Chi–influenced flow, and rounded, circular pathways characteristic of Chinese movement aesthetics. Open to dancers from diverse training backgrounds, the class emphasizes curiosity, embodiment, and cultural exchange through movement.

Contemporary Chinese Fusion
Led Tingyu Xie of TINGMOTION
In this workshop, dancers will be led through a series of relaxation and recovery techniques using simple tennis balls for muscle release. These exercises can be used pre or post rehearsal as best suits a dancer's needs to support healthy stretching, strengthening, and recovery practices. Add to your toolbox for self care.

Nontraditional Partnering

This contemporary modern dance class is fully grounded, focusing exclusively on floor work. Dancers will explore weight, momentum, and efficiency of movement through rolling, sliding, spiraling, and transitioning in and out of the floor. Emphasis is placed on fluidity, dynamic shifts, and clear intention, encouraging experienced dancers to move with a deep physical connection to gravity.
